Trauma Happens! – Prevent Long Term Effects
Recently I had a head injury. I tripped over a box and hit my head to a counter, creating a 3 ˝ inch gash in my head. I received 7 staples in my head and in 9 days those staples came out with no major problem. But the potential stress of this accident could have had long-term implications. I acted quickly in a number of ways to lower the potential of long-lasting trauma.

First, before I was even taken to the emergency room, I took a dose of Arnica 200C. Arnica is a commonly used homeopathic remedy to reduce trauma, and prevent bruising. I continued to take two more doses of Arnica that evening, and for a couple days later, so that no noticeable bruising or swelling ever occurred.

The next day my neck, probably from a whiplash action as my head recoiled from the impact, was in major pain. I was able to get some cranial sacral work on my neck that afternoon, which reduced much of the pain. With my new testing device (the Limbic Stress Assessment), I even got proof of that my stress was reduced. I was able to test myself before the cranial sacral session, and again afterward. Noticeable reductions in my own stress levels were measured, especially in the points that correlated to the areas of pain.

Fibromyalgia Pain Can Come On After A Traumatic Event
During my research study with 50 people who were diagnosed with fibromyalgia, that was published in my book “Natural Choices for Fibromyalgia” I found that 28% could name a specific traumatic event that brought on their fibromyalgia pain. Traumatic events can be stored in our tissues – our muscles, ligaments and other connective tissues – and over time the pain can increase if not dealt with as needed.

If you believe your current Fibromyalgia pain is caused by a traumatic event, even a long time ago, you can still act to reduce the trauma stored in your tissues. A number of techniques can be used and are effective in different ways. One recommendation is to take some high potency Arnica. High doses include Arnica 30C, or Arnica 200C, or even Arnica 1M, if you can get it.

Another recommendation is to do regular bodywork, including massage, cranial sacral therapy if there has been nervous system damage to your back or head, or muscle release techniques if the trauma occurred in other areas. Each bodywork session can reduce a layer of trauma.

Your Hormones Affect Your Pain Level
The other way to reduce held trauma is to reduce inflammation caused by trauma events. Everyday stressful events or life-changing events can create inflammation in various parts of our body. Inflammation occurs in our connective tissue when stress does not move out. The longer the stress affecting the area the worse the inflammation can become.

Our hormones react to every event in our lives. Our adrenal and thyroid hormones need to have good fats to work effectively to reduce these stress-producing events. Prostaglandins are hormone-like tissues that help control how well your system stays in balance. Prostaglandins regulate blood pressure, stimulate muscle contractions, stimulate inflammation, regulate transmission of nerve impulses, inhibit gastric secretions, and more.

Good fats, the essential fatty acids, help to bring excess prostaglandins into balance and reduce built up inflammation. Essential fatty acids improve circulation by increasing cell membrane flexibility. The most noticeable symptoms of good fats working in the body is the reduction of stiffness in the tissues.

Good fats include flax oil, fish oils, and olive oil. The types of fat to avoid are trans fats, and any foods containing partially hydrogenated oil. Also corn oil, soybean oil, or safflower oil contain mostly omega-6 fatty acids which if consumed in excess quantities can create more prostaglandins, increasing sensitivity to pain and environmental stresses.

Remember, when you are adding additional essential fatty acids in your diet or by supplementation, you need to get whole food antioxidants to help remove the discarded free radicals created by the dead inflammatory tissues. Antioxidants from fruits and vegetables are absolutely necessary to remove free radicals.

Remember if you are not getting your daily requirement of 9 to 13 servings of fruits and vegetables you can use Juice Plus+ capsules. Just 2 fruit capsules and 2 vegetable capsules provide 4 to 5 servings of 17 different fruits and vegetables. Even One-A-Day vitamin radio commercials currently tell us that their vitamins work best with a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. So if you are not getting your fruits and vegetables those vitamins are essentially useless. For more information on Juice Plus+ go to JuicePlus.com.
